About Faith, Testimony, Church, Ministry, & The Kingdom in Action.
When you’re carrying a vision from God, it’s easy to think the heavy lifting is your job alone.
That’s what Moses thought too—until Jethro showed up with a word of wisdom. What he offered wasn’t just good leadership advice. It was a revelation about how sustainable ministry works.
Moses was doing it all: answering disputes, interpreting God’s will, making decisions big and small. And the people were lining up from morning to night.
Jethro watched for a day, then pulled him aside:
“What you are doing is not good. You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone.”
What followed was an immediate reorganization:
Moses would handle the most serious matters
Capable leaders would handle the rest
The people would be better served
Moses would survive his calling
It was delegation. It was structure. It was sacred stewardship.
Many ministry leaders still think being “called” means being available 24/7, solving every problem, answering every email, editing every video, managing every follow-up.
But calling isn’t a mandate for martyrdom. It’s an invitation to build wisely.
And in today’s world, that means:
Delegating tasks to systems
Letting automation carry the load you shouldn’t be touching manually
Designing workflows that reflect priorities
A smart tech stack isn’t cold. It’s compassionate.
Still using six platforms that don’t talk to each other? He’d say, “That’s exhausting.”
Sending every email manually? “There’s a better way.”
Burned out from remembering who to follow up with? “Let the system do the remembering so you can do the loving.”
Your CRM. Your workflows. Your calendar automation. Your testimony collection system. These aren’t add-ons. They’re your support staff.
When you set them up well, you get to:
Rest more confidently
Respond more quickly
Reflect God’s care more consistently
And you stay in your lane: being the voice, the vision, the shepherd—not the admin.
Jethro didn’t call Moses lazy. He called him unsustainable.
There’s a difference between sacrifice and stubbornness. There’s a difference between servanthood and self-sabotage.
God’s calling on your life is holy. Let’s build systems that honor that.
